Hi I went on Thursday to the clinic where I expected to start new treatment Injection once a week but on arriving saw a new Doctor and he said you have had a flare up yes my inflamation levels very high they have been up to 111 and 82 so back on steriods and this new doctor said I would be having a home visit from the nurses who would show me what to do within 2 weeks When I read some of the letters sent in from other sufferers I feel my troubles are small compared to young people who have to work and try and keep the home fires burning as it was at least I can rest when unwell but when you have to keep going it is really hard. Yes like everyone else the heat gets to you What also very frustrating is the long wait between taking drugs and seeing the consultant and to be told no the new drug not working. The only relief I have had is the steriods, but keep being told that they are not good to stay onbut all drugs have side effects and sometimes I think what is the answer but we have to keep smiling Lilian-H

Hi Lillian,

The heat is probably not helping with your flare, the last couple of weeks I have ached a bit too and I don't usually. You will get sorted out on a drug which suits you just give it time. In the meantime try to keep your inflammation levels down as much as you can. I cut out red meat which can put up your levels, I also eat lots of green leafy vegetables and lots of fruit including black cherries which I have heard are good for stiff joints. May not suit everyone but really suits me. Omega 3 oil in fish or capsules is really good too. Hope you feel better soon thinking about you. Lorna x Smile

Hi Lilian,

Sorry you are having a flare. Did you not start on the new treatment then? Is it anti-tnfs you are starting on?
I hope the flare settles soon and you can get established on the treatment.

Love, Doreen xx

The Healthcare at Home nurses are brilliant, Lillian, and will go through everything with you.

I must be one of the lucky ones, as my RA seems to improve no end when it's warm. Mind you, I have always been a contrary so and so!

Wishing you well with it all and do let us know how you get on.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and don't overdo it!

Love Jeanxx

Hi Lillian,

How are you today well I hope, I have started an exercise routine and have found it great. My mum is a few years younger than you and does Tia Chi exercises very gentle and helps with her fibromyalgia. Thought that may be a help to you, its amazing now what activities are around in everyones area you just have to ask around. Take care love Lorna x Smile
